Isabella Chardonnay 2017

Isabella Chardonnay 2017

In the Vineyard:

Named after the beautiful Isabella Melck, the grapes were hand harvested before being whole-bunch pressed. The free run juice is chilled to about 8˚ Celsius for 2 days. The clear juice is then taken off and pumped into 500 litre barrels where it undergoes natural fermentation.

In the Cellar:

After the alcoholic fermentation the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and spent 10 months in wood before racked and blended. It was then stabilised before it was bottled and labelled.

Tasting Notes:

This complex and intriguing wine starts to bewitch and beguile your senses before the glass is even raised. Breathe in the heady scents of caramelized pineapples, hazelnuts, citrus fruit and cream before taking a mouthful of ripe, yellow tropical fruits, marmalade and lemon meringue pie flavours supported by creamy spice and vanilla all of which linger together into an endless finish. A beautifully-balanced wine with plenty of ageing potential to come, but masses of drinking pleasure right now.

Food Suggestion:

Pair it with only the very best – perhaps the freshest of fish, simply grilled with fragrant, homemade lemon butter.

Ageing Potential:

Can be enjoyed now or up to five years from now.
