Resonate Exhibition by Marrianna Booyens

Five weeks ago I received a challenge. That my work should change, and become something new, something that could release a new Sound. I had no idea to do that, but I knew I had to let go of the old way of painting I was used to, and felt comfortable with. The more or less 30 artworks I had in mind for the exhibition, had to either be left out, or be transformed. I choose to transform, out of my comfort zone, with new techniques, and new colours. I choose to let go of the sight of the shoreline, to reach out to a new vision, and a new land. At times it felt daunting, as though I was falling through space with nothing to catch me.

How do you release sound through visual art? I am not sure that I know yet, but the works that will be exhibited is nothing comfortable. It sings loudly, and sometimes it even shouts. You might hear the low hum of a bee in the garden, or the sound of the brightness of summer.
