This is a social hike of around 2km total, starting at Dirtopia Trail Centre at Muratie Wine Estate, where you’ll be treated to a Mimosa on arrival. The circular route winds through the vineyards at Muratie with views of Simonsberg and Table Mountain in the distance. Along the way there will be four stops to taste wine from the several cultivars. Please note that a relative amount of fitness is required.
Bring good (closed) walking shoes, backpack with water, hat, snacks (if you like), jacket and of course water bottle. Even a picnic blanket will be handy to relax while you taste the wines. This is a relaxed event with lots of socializing and so that you can enjoy the Winelands scenery of the Stellenbosch outdoors!
Ensure you book by the Friday before event by 12h00. Limited tickets and all must be done online.
The Trail Centre will be open early for snacks and cold drink sales. Please note that any drinks before, during or after the walk is for your own account.
VENUE: Start and finish at Dirtopia trail Centre, Muratie Wine Estate, Stellenbosch
TIME: For registration from 08h30, so that we can start the walk by 9.00am and will be back by 11pm
DISTANCE: Approximately 2.5km in total
COST: R245 Kids U18 R85 and will receive one juice instead of wine
INCLUDES: Day permit for marked route and wine tasting on top of the mountain.
Wear good walking/hiking shoes. Bring a jacket, carry your own water and perhaps some snacks to enjoy on the mountain.
SCHEDULE:
08h30 – 08h25: Registration. You will receive an armband that will give you access to the route and wine tastings.
09h00: Start the walk at leisurely pace.
A short briefing will take place before you follow the marked route.
09h30 until 10.30am: Walk to the four stations at your own time to taste the wines.
11h00/12h00: Arrival back at Dirtopia Trail Centre.
