Muratie Melck’s Blended Red 2018

Price: R 125.00

Muratie Melck’s Blended Red 2018

Just as the history of Muratie dates back centuries, so does the Melck family vintage. And over the years they have invested in their staff this sense of family.  Social upliftment has long been a cornerstone of Muratie’s culture. Thus everyone on the farm is steeped in knowledge of the growing and winemaking processes-working as one for the betterment of all, as all close families do.

VINEYARD

The blend constitutes a selection of various vineyards on the wine estate.

VINIFICATION

The Melck’s Blended Red 2018 is a blend of Shiraz (36 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (33 %), Merlot (20 %), and Mourvedre (11 %). The grapes were hand harvested and made in a combination of stainless steel tanks and open fermenters and was elegantly oaked for 18 months in second and third fill French oak barrels.

WINEMAKER’S COMMENTS

Where most of the wines in the portfolio are special occasion wines, this medium-bodied blend is intended for everyday enjoyment. However, it too is sourced entirely from the estate, and while unpretentious it is well-crafted with its soft tannins, lush black fruit and hints of white pepper and mocha from careful oaking.

ANALYSIS

Alcohol 14.54 %
Residual Sugar 4.1 g/l
Total acid 5.4 g/l
pH 3.68
