Isabella Chardonnay Reserve 2014

Isabella Chardonnay Reserve 2014

In the Vineyard:

Named after the beautiful Isabella Melck, the grapes of this single vineyard were hand harvested. To ensure optimum acidity and fruit flavours we went through the block on three occasions – each time picking only the bunches that were ripe at the time.

In the Cellar:

Natural Fermentation has been done in 500L French Oak Barrels. Malolactic Fermentation was done in oak. After 10 months the wine was racked into a stainless steel tank, bottled unfiltered and unfined. For this reason the wine might throw some crystals/sediment and might not be brilliantly clear.

Tasting Notes:

This complex and intriguing wine starts to bewitch and beguile your senses before the glass is even raised. Breathe in the heady scents of caramelized pineapples, hazelnuts, citrus fruit and cream before taking a mouthful of ripe, yellow tropical fruits, marmalade and lemon meringue pie flavours supported by creamy spice and vanilla all of which linger together into an endless finish. A beautifully-balanced wine with plenty of ageing potential to come, but masses of drinking pleasure right now.

Food Suggestion:

Pair it with only the very best - perhaps the freshest of fish, simply grilled with fragrant, homemade lemon butter.

Ageing Potential:

Can be enjoyed now or up to five years from now.
