Dear friend, I must confess I have never spent so much time watching political debates as I have been doing over the past 6 weeks. Eventually it became a "we shat overcomb" in the USA. Back home we having out own sitcom. The last tirade of comrade Julius was not exactly what we would like to hear. Such vitriolic outbursts are not really going to help the cause of our beautiful country.
Muratie wines scoop Top 100 SA Wines status, Double Platinum and Double Gold at the National Wine Challenge / Top 100 SA Wines 2016
Muratie, the historic Stellenbosch estate owned by the Melck family, is the proud recipient of Top 100 SA Wines 2016 status and a National Wine Challenge Double Platinum award for the Muratie Isabella Chardonnay 2015, as well as Double Gold for the Muratie Ansela van de Caab 2012.
After a week that saw a wildfire of disastrous magnitude ravage the Simonsberg wine ward, Muratie Wine Estate is coming to terms with its impact on the farm, and turning their focus to the impending harvest.

Following on from the success of their inaugural Mini Port Festival hosted last year, Muratie Estate, in conjunction with Juvenal Corks, will be hosting their 2015 Mini Port Festival on Saturday 25th July. So make the most of the Cape winter and head out to the historic Estate in Stellenbosch to join the Melck family and other leading South African Port producers for a memorable mellow day.
Tucked into the exquisite Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch, Muratie Wine Estate, under the stewardship of Rijk Melck and his family, has been at the heart of a lot of passionate debate. This debate is centred largely around the desire to protect a century’s old wine experience that is a magnet for wine lovers around the world.

Rijk Melck, custodian of the historic Muratie Estate in Stellenbosch, is donating a generous prize to the art student who is judged to be the winner of the best painting showcased at Stellenbosch University’s Gradex 2014 exhibition.

THE MURATIE Wine Estate has become a favourite stop-over off the R44 along the Simonsberg stretch of the Stellenbosch Wine Route, particularly since the Melck family stepped up a gear hospitality wise by offering meals from their Cellar Kitchen.
